Brain Tumor Hair Loss Facts in Answers
Does Psoriasis of the scalp cause permanent hair loss? My mother recently developed Psoriasis on her scalp. She underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor about two years ago and her dermatologist said that it is not uncommon for psoriasis to develop on/ around the incision area. My mother has a bald spot on the top of her head and is now afraid that she's going to go completely and irreversibly bald. Is this even a possibility? Thank you.

Winterwolf replied: "I have psoriasis on my scalp most of my life and it doesn't cause hair loss. Psoriasis will form on damaged skin. That is why it is important to protect your skin and not scratch the lesions."

oday replied: "I don't believe it would"

Hair loss AFTER regrowth after chemotherapy? My mother had breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy. All her hair fell out, but some time after the chemo ended, it grew back. It had reached a length of about an inch and a half, but now, her hair is starting to fall out yet again without any known cause. Right now, there are noticeable spots near her hairline, on both sides of her head, where the hair is falling out again. She doesn't know why it might be happening, and her doctors all don't know what to tell her, so they're being of no use. It's been about a year after her initial mastectomy (surgery), and about two months ago she had a very small, benign brain tumor removed. Does anybody know any possible causes for this new hair loss after it has already grown back?

Lauren replied: "I am sorry to tell you that one person I know unfortunately has alopecia as a result of chemotherapy several years ago. If she lets her hair grow she has a 'Mohican' so she prefers to keep it very short and wear a trendy hat. If you do a search on alopecia and chemotherapy you may be able to research this more. I hope your mother keeps well now."

Panda replied: "Your mother has Alopecia areata, which may have nothing to do with her chemotherapy treatment for cancer. No one knows that for sure, but it could be hereditary . .or come from the emotional stress she suffered with the cancer. You can research this condition online: National Alopecia Areata Foundation Wikipedia: Alopecia Areata"

hair loss problem help!!!!? my sister is 45 and just saw that he has a bald spot on the top of her head the spot is Round and its about 1 1/2 in what is happening to her? is it because of age? what can she do to stop the hair loss or to grow back her hair? oh she also drinks a lot of medicines because she has a small brain tumor and diabetes

M.D. Alison C replied: "year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss. the things that really worked for me was: 1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp; 2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation; 3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage; 4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three); 5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed and Provilluss! Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important! It worked and still works for me! I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here and here It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss! good luck! not only my own personal experience + working as a family physician "

wizard replied: "It might be due to Alopecia Areata too. Its a form autoimmune disease. Try viewing the images in. If it is similar then she should see a doctor and get a skin biopsy done to confirm it. My bro had the same problem and managed to recover his hair through the suggested treatment in the site. Your sis might want to give it a try. All the best."
